Sharing the Gospel with a Young Harvard Medical Student

 “ I used this booklet to help lead a young man out of partial commitment to Jesus Christ. This young man was from Germany and had come to Harvard Medical School to study Brain Science. He thought that by studying the brain he could some how find the meaning of existence. He was invited to go to a local Charismatic church and had made a partial commitment to the Lord. When I met him he was very upset. He said with a lot of pent up frustration, “I have given Jesus 70% of my life, and He has given me absolutely nothing.” As I spoke with him, I learned that he was living with his girl friend and did not believe anything in the Old Testament or in the Bible for that matter. The only thing that he accepted as truth were the words of Jesus. He did not believe the Ten Commandments had any application for today but thought they were archaic Jewish laws. 

I took out the booklet What If ? and shared the Gospel with him. I showed him the root cause of sin - the exaltation of self.  As we read the Scriptures together, God started opening his eyes to see his problem. I was expecting him to want to go and think about all this. He surprised me and said, “I want to repent and be baptized right now!” He made a full repentance of sin right then and there. He said he realized that he had been seeking the praises of men and living to please himself. He said he realized it was a sin for him to be living with his girl friend. It was freezing at Cambridge, and we had no water,  but we had his friend's bath tub that had warm water, so we baptized him right then and there. He was gloriously baptized in the Holy Spirit.

He said, “I came to Harvard to make a name for myself and to make myself great. I think I need to quit and go back home to Germany tomorrow." We counseled him that unless the Lord showed him otherwise, he should finish his degree, but he should change the reason he was getting his degree and use it to bring glory to God and God alone. He also had no problem embracing the Bible as God’s true word - all of his arguments just few out the door without me having to say anything about it. He was miraculously transformed before our eyes. When people find out the Truth and they embrace it, the Truth sets them free!”

Sharing the Gospel with a Young Harvard Law Student from Ireland

 “I also spoke to another young man at Harvard using the concepts in this salvation booklet. This young man was a law student from Ireland who had been trying to find New Life in Christ. When he worshipped God in a prayer meeting, he put his whole heart into it. It looked to everyone around that he was a dynamic Christian. He spoke to me and later and told me he had been trying to experience the abundant life Christ promised and had gone to every worship service, Bible study, and prayer group that he could but still he had not found the relationship with God he was seeking. After I shared with him the concepts of total 100% commitment presented in this booklet from the Gospel of Jesus Christ, he said, “Now I know exactly what my problem is.  I came to Harvard out of a desire to make my name great. I am living to exalt myself.” He said, “I am going to have to go back to my dorm  and count the cost.” It wasn’t long before he made his decision. He decided to forsake his desire for man’s praise, lay down his life, and take up his cross and follow Jesus 100%.  He is now back in Ireland serving the Lord with wholehearted devotion and is a legal assistant to the Attorney General of Ireland.”
